The story
Persephone's relationship with Hades has gone public and the resulting media storm disrupts her normal life and threatens to expose her as the Goddess of Spring. Hades, God of the Dead, is burdened by a hellish past that everyone's eager to expose in an effort to warn Persephone away. Things only get worse when a horrible tragedy leaves Persephone's heart in ruin and Hades refusing to help. Desperate, she takes matters into her own hands, striking bargains with severe consequences. Faced with a side of Hades she never knew and crushing loss, Persephone wonders if she can truly become Hades' queen.
What it’s like
Moody, glamorous modern myth: a contemporary world of flashing cameras, gossip feeds and polished penthouses, set against the cold, velvet dark of the underworld. The voice is close and conversational, with plenty of interiority and sharp banter, and the romance is tangled with grief and public pressure. Pacing runs quick through scandal and social friction, then slows into long, emotional stretches when the story turns inward. Sensual content is frequent and fairly explicit, and there is a steady undercurrent of dread, with grief and betrayal hitting hard, though the violence is mostly sporadic rather than graphic. Vibe: swoony, dramatic and intense, with a bruised-heart melancholy under the glamour. It suits a late-night read, a weekend escape, or a binge when you want romance with real emotional weight. Best for readers who want a slow-burn-to-heat dynamic, a dark-romance edge, and a fresh take on Greek myth told through a modern lens.
