Terms

Because I liked recommends films, TV shows, books and games based on what you loved and why. Using the site, with or without an account, means you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. It’s free. We may change, add or remove features, and we’ll try to give notice before anything you rely on goes away.

• Use an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself.
• One account per person. You’re responsible for what happens under yours.
• You need to be 18 or over, or 13 or over with a parent or guardian’s permission.
• You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time.

What you write about the things you loved stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it to run the service: to find and explain your picks, and to show it on share pages you create. That permission ends when you delete it, apart from any copy we’re required to keep by law.

Don’t write anything that’s illegal, that you don’t have the right to share, or that targets another person. Remember that share links are public to anyone who has them.

Please don’t:

• scrape or bulk-download the catalog, picks or explanations;
• send automated requests, or try to get around rate limits;
• probe, disrupt or try to break the service or other people’s accounts;
• use the picks or explanations to build a competing dataset or model.

We may limit or suspend access that does any of these.

Picks and their explanations are written with the help of AI. They’re suggestions, not facts: an explanation can misread a work or overstate a connection. Age ratings and “where to watch” come from third parties, can be out of date, and vary by country. Check a rating before choosing something for a child, and check the service before you subscribe.

Titles, posters, covers and descriptions belong to their owners and come from TMDB, IGDB and Open Library. Streaming availability is powered by JustWatch. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. If you believe something here infringes your rights, email hello@becauseiliked.com.

The service is provided as it is, without warranties. We work to keep it running and accurate, but can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or right about what you’ll enjoy. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it. Nothing here limits rights you have that can’t be waived by law.

You can stop at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where we can, we’ll tell you why first. If we ever shut the service down, we’ll give signed-in users notice and a way to export their loves.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If we change them, we’ll update this page and its date, and tell signed-in users about changes that matter before they take effect. Questions go to hello@becauseiliked.com.
