The story

A group of kids must protect their vacation home from invading aliens.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated daylight and sun-washed summer-house interiors, with a cheerful, cartoonish palette that makes the whole film feel like a holiday postcard. The live-action family scenes sit in warm, flat midday light, while the aliens arrive as bright CGI creatures with glossy, rubbery textures and playful, exaggerated movement. Camera work is brisk and kinetic, with quick cuts and wide shots of a lakeside house and woods that keep the energy lively. Sound leans on upbeat pop-leaning score, slapstick sound effects and goofy alien chirps, with a few tense beats of suspense that never linger. The vibe is breezy, silly and high-spirited, ideal for a lazy weekend afternoon, a family movie night or a light background watch. Pacing is quick and comic, and the emotional arc follows a set of siblings learning to work together and appreciate one another. Intensity is low: cartoonish action and mild peril, with no gore, no sexual content and no real cruelty, and a playful stinger at the end. It suits families with younger children and anyone wanting a gentle, funny sci-fi adventure with a cosy, uncomplicated feel.
