The story
Decorated veteran Will Sharp, desperate for money to cover his wife's medical bills, asks for help from his adoptive brother Danny. A charismatic career criminal, Danny instead offers him a score: the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history: $32 million.
What it’s like
Relentless, saturated Los Angeles at full volume: sun-bleached daylight, hot neon reflections on wet asphalt, and the hard white glare of a city that never seems to dim. Michael Bay's signature is on every frame, with fast handheld whip pans, low-angle hero shots, and a constant swirl of drone and helicopter footage that keeps the camera in motion, while the grade pushes oranges and teals into a glossy, digital sheen. Sound is layered and loud: thudding percussion, screeching tyres, sirens threaded through a pulsing score, and very little quiet. The mood is frantic, sweaty and high-stakes, a kind of urgent, adrenaline-soaked unease. It suits a late-night watch when you want to be pinned to the couch rather than lulled. The pacing never lets up, and the emotional core is a desperate, decent man pushed into something he cannot control, with a loyal, anxious bond at its centre. Violence is frequent and often brutal: shootings, a car crash, gunfire in confined spaces, and some blood, with real peril throughout but no sexual content. For viewers who want a loud, kinetic, nonstop thriller and can handle constant intensity.
