The story
An amazing thriller part of the 3 part series, and the final book. the main character, Pip Fitz-Amobi is about to head to college, but she is still daunted by the results of her previous investigations regarding other crimes (see *a good girls guide to murder*, and *as good as dead*). These days, she is death threats in the wake of her well known-true-crime podcast, but she can't help noticing an anonymous person who keeps asking her a mysterious question, which will hunt her to the grave. The book, *As good as dead*, introduces you to a fantastic plot, with a mixture of humor, crime, thriller and just a jumble of amazing emotion.
What it’s like
Brisk, chatty and tense, with a teenage narrator's wry humour sitting right against a creeping sense of being watched. Pages turn quickly in short chapters, and the mood shifts between dry jokes, late-night unease and sharp jolts of fear. A young woman, newly anxious about leaving home for college, is trying to step back from the true-crime work that made her name, but the threats keep coming and a mysterious question pulls her back in. Her arc is about nerve and self-doubt more than romance, and the emotional beats land hard around friendship and family. The intensity is moderate: stalking, threatening messages, some violence, and casual swearing, drinking and drug use, but no graphic gore. It suits a late-night read when you want suspense with a warm, funny voice. It is for teen and young adult readers who enjoy clever, podcast-style mysteries and want the thrill of a whodunit with humour and heart.
