The story
After their late former Captain is framed, Lowrey and Burnett try to clear his name, only to end up on the run themselves.
What it’s like
Loud, sun-saturated Miami in every shot: hot daylight bouncing off pastel facades, neon-tinted nightclubs, glossy digital images with heavy contrast and roaring highway light. The camera is restless and kinetic, swinging through crowded streets, tracking alongside speeding cars, and slamming into set-piece chases and gunfights with a sustained, hyperactive energy. The score is thick with bass and hip-hop-leaning beats, and the soundtrack spills over every scene, so the mood is constant noise and momentum rather than quiet. Its vibe is brash, sweaty and gleefully over the top, with a running current of ribbing between two lifelong partners who bicker like family while the action escalates. Violence is frequent and cartoonishly loud: many shootings and car crashes, bloody wounds shown plainly though rarely lingered on, and some crude language and sexual innuendo. Arcs centre on loyalty, ageing and reconciliation, with two veterans proving they still have it. Best for fans of big, noisy summer action who want a buddy comedy with a wisecracking pace, not for anyone seeking gentle or subdued viewing.
