The story

Former high school lab partners Marshall and Frances begin to unravel a conspiracy involving big pharma and the federal government to suppress knowledge of a rare mushroom that may hold the key to curing all the world’s diseases.

What it’s like

Bright, cartoonish adult animation with a brisk comic energy, built for half-hour sessions with a glass in hand. The mood is breezy and irreverent, a dark comedy that treats corporate and government wrongdoing as a running joke, with a conspiracy-thriller pulse underneath. Its two leads, old high school lab partners pulled back together, bounce off each other in a playful, sardonic rhythm, and the story's arc is about reluctant allies drifting into something bigger than they expected. The tone stays optimistic even as the scheme gets darker, so it reads as satire rather than paranoia. Expect crude adult humor, workplace and institutional cynicism, and comic peril; violence and gore are not the point, and any harm lands as slapstick or absurdity rather than dread. It suits a lazy weekend or a comfort rewatch for viewers who enjoy sharp, mischievous satire of pharmaceutical companies, bureaucracy and cover-ups, and who like their conspiracies played for laughs.
