The story
Deshu, a mechanic from Dubai, comes home to Mumbai, and gets embroiled in a crime by accident. The film shows his meteoric rise from common, law-abiding man to underworld kingpin.
What it’s like
Night-soaked Mumbai in sodium-orange streetlight and wet asphalt, with dim bars, cramped apartments, and sudden flashes of gunfire lit in harsh white. The camera stays close and restless, often handheld, and the score leans on thudding percussion and tense, percussive swells that push the pulse up. The mood is grimy, tense, and sometimes operatic, with the city feeling like a machine that swallows people whole. An ordinary man slowly hardens into someone frightening, and the film charts that change without much tenderness. Violence is frequent and sharp, including shootings and killings shown with little restraint. It is not gentle, and there is some sexual content and a steady undercurrent of threat and cruelty. It suits a late-night watch alone, or anyone who wants a dark, propulsive crime drama about power, loyalty, and moral collapse in an unforgiving city.
