The story
Prem and Nisha meet and fall in love at the wedding of their elder siblings, but their plans to be together are put in jeopardy when Nisha's sister dies, leaving behind a baby.
What it’s like
Warm, bright and extravagantly colourful, with saturated reds, marigold yellows and rich jewel tones filling nearly every frame of a joyful family wedding. Much of it unfolds in large, sunlit houses and tented courtyards, with a steady, unhurried camera that lingers on rituals, feasts, and clusters of relatives in festive dress. The music carries the emotional weight: a score of lilting melodies and bright dance numbers that swell into tender, sentimental ballads, and the soundtrack is loved as much as the film itself. The pace is leisurely and the mood sweetly sentimental, with wholesome humour and a gentle, reassuring warmth that suits a lazy weekend, a family get-together, or a comfort rewatch. Intensity is very low: the emotional stakes run through grief and separation, handled with tears and tenderness rather than harshness, and there is no graphic violence and little that is frightening. The romance stays chaste and traditional. It is for people who want a generous, melodic family romance that feels like a festival of love, devotion and togetherness.
