The story

A court-appointed legal guardian defrauds her older clients and traps them under her care. But her latest mark comes with some unexpected baggage.

What it’s like

Bright, clinical daylight and immaculate interiors give this film a cool, glossy surface, with sleek modern offices, pale beige apartments and pristine care homes framed in crisp symmetrical compositions. Its palette is candy-bright and sterile, so the cruelty feels polished rather than gritty, and the score pulses with brisk, playful momentum that undercuts each dark turn. The vibe is slick, mordantly funny and chilly, a satire that keeps its edge sharp from first scene to last. Pacing is fast and confident, with sudden tonal swerves that land as jolts of shock and dark amusement. Its emotional register stays deliberately detached, following a ruthless, self-assured woman who thinks she has every system beaten, until a rival with real menace enters her orbit and the game tilts. It is violent in bursts: some brief, sharp physical confrontations and a few startling, blunt moments of cruelty, but no sustained gore, and the sexual content is minimal. Dread is more frequent than actual violence, and the discomfort comes mostly from watching people be exploited. It suits viewers who enjoy black comedy and morally unpleasant protagonists, and those who want a sardonic take on institutional abuse and greed.
