The story
Jimmy Neutron is a boy genius and way ahead of his friends, but when it comes to being cool, he's a little behind. All until one day when his parents, and parents all over Earth are kidnapped by aliens, it's up to him to lead all the children of the world to rescue their parents.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated 2D-style CGI with bouncy cartoon proportions, candy-colored suburban streets, and a constant clutter of gadgets, lab glow and rocket-blue sky. The camera is busy and kinetic, with quick cuts, zooms and whip pans that keep pace with a restless, inventive energy, while the score is brisk orchestral-pop with synth stings, comic sound effects and loud, bouncy set pieces. Vibe: frenetic, cheerful, good-humored adventure, the kind of thing for a Saturday-morning sugar rush or a family movie night with kids who want noise and invention. Pacing is fast and episodic, with laughs and gadget gags arriving every few minutes. Emotionally it stays light: a bright-kid-out-of-step-with-his-peers arc resolves into friendship and a joyful team-up against a goofy alien threat. Intensity is mild-to-moderate: cartoon peril, explosions and laser fire, slapstick scuffles, villain menace and some scary-looking robots, but no gore and nothing graphically cruel. Best for families with young children, and for adults who want an upbeat, cheerful animated caper with plenty of energetic, silly momentum.
