The story
In 1985 suburban Paris, 12-year-old Vincent lives with his distant older brother and quarrelling parents. Amid laughter and unease, he navigates friendship and first love, while beginning to confront the adult world.
What it’s like
Warm, slightly faded 1980s suburban Paris, with the ordinary textures of family kitchens, school corridors and summer streets carrying the nostalgia. The mood sits between laughter and unease: a bright, wry comedy that keeps a steady undercurrent of tension at home, where the parents' quarrels and the older brother's distance hang in the background of everyday rooms. Pacing is conversational and episodic, letting small moments of friendship and first crushes breathe before the heavier adult realities press in. The emotional register is tender and observant, with a twelve-year-old's view of the world gradually widening into something less certain. Expect no graphic violence or gore; the discomfort comes from family strain and awkward social situations rather than fear or cruelty. It suits a comfort-watch on a lazy weekend or a reflective evening alone, and it is for viewers who enjoy coming-of-age stories about family, memory and growing up with a gently ironic eye.
