The story
Knytt Stories is a platform game consisting of five original shorter stories about Knytts in their universe and hundreds of custom made stories.
What it’s like
Soft, hand-drawn pixel art in muted greens, greys and washed blues, with tiny figures wandering through vast, quiet landscapes of caves, ruins and open sky, the whole thing lit like a faded storybook. The soundscape is sparse: gentle ambient tones and small plinks of water and wind, with long stretches of near silence that make every jump and echo feel deliberate. It moves at a slow, exploratory pace, asking you to wander, poke at odd corners and piece together the layout of a world that rewards curiosity rather than reflexes. The mood is wistful and calm, a little lonely, with warm, low-stakes discovery at its heart. Violence is absent; the challenge is navigational rather than dangerous, with occasional sudden drops and hazards but no gore, cruelty or sexual content. It suits a rainy afternoon, a late-night wander with headphones, or anyone who wants a patient, gentle metroidvania. It is for players who love quiet exploration, hand-made atmosphere and the pleasure of stumbling onto something unexpected.
