The story
An epic 18-day battle unfolds through the perspectives of 18 warriors, revealing their inner struggles and ethical challenges during a war between brothers.
What it’s like
An animated mythic epic with a sweeping, weighty register, where the scale of a vast war is carried by episodes that step into the minds of different warriors. The rhythm suits a sustained watch: long stretches of tense stillness and conscience-searching interrupted by bursts of combat. The mood is solemn and reflective, concerned with duty, loyalty and grief more than triumph. Battle is central and violence is part of the experience, rendered in a stylized way with death carrying emotional weight rather than being lingered on for shock. Expect drums, horns and orchestral swells for the set pieces, dropping to quiet for the inner monologues. It suits a focused evening when full attention is available, for viewers drawn to ethical dilemmas, mythological epics and character interiority against large-scale conflict. It is not a fit for anyone wanting something gentle or light.
