The story
When an evil emperor executes their leader, his band of knights – bound by duty and honour – embarks on a journey of vengeance that will not come to an end until they've destroyed their mortal foe.
What it’s like
Dark, rain-slicked medieval landscapes and stone interiors lit by torchlight and cold grey daylight, with heavy blues and muddy browns in the palette and a restless, handheld-leaning camera that stays close in the fights. Sound leans on martial drums, low strings and clanging steel, with sudden quiet between clashes. The vibe is grim, austere and brooding, a solemn revenge saga about loyalty and fallen honour. It suits a late evening with the lights off when you want something heavy and serious, or a rainy weekend afternoon with a sword-and-sandals itch. Its pacing is deliberate in the early scenes and then surges into extended, bloody swordplay and brutal combat; violence is frequent, graphic and sometimes gory, with some grim cruelty and no sexual content to speak of. Emotionally it stays hard and somber, tracing men bound by oath who hold to duty even as it costs them everything. It is for viewers who enjoy stylized, violent historical action and don't mind a bleak, unsentimental tone.
