The story
Yaman, who lives in the suburb of Tozludere (Istanbul), is arrested and put in jail with his brother because his brother decided to steal a car at a petrol station. Until that day he tried to change his destiny by working hard to earn a good life. That evening he was unwillingly introduced to crime and his clean dossier was tainted. He meets a rich lawyer, Selim Serez.
What it’s like
Bright, sun-washed Istanbul rendered in glossy, saturated daylight, with sea glare on the Bosphorus and warm interiors of marble villas set against the duller concrete and tiled rooms of a working-class suburb. Camera work is conventional television: medium close-ups, shot-reverse-shot dialogue, and sweeping establishing shots of the water, with a sentimental string-and-piano score that swells at every glance across a room. The vibe is romantic melodrama with a light comic streak, the kind of show to sink into on a lazy weekend or as a comfort watch, where plenty of episodes end on a cliffhanger. Its arc follows a hardworking young man whose choices are tested by class, pride and family loyalty, and the story leans on misunderstandings, rivalries and heartbreak rather than danger. Intensity is moderate: a brief arrest, some scuffles and raised voices, occasional tears, but no gore and little real menace. It suits viewers who want emotional, old-fashioned soap sweetness and a lush sense of place, not tension or realism.
