The story
A young boy and his dog, who happens to have a genius-level IQ, spring into action when their time-machine is stolen and moments in history begin to be changed.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated digital animation with clean outlines, rounded character designs and a polished, glossy finish, moving between a warm, cluttered modern home and vividly staged historical sets: Renaissance Florence, ancient Egypt, Troy, the French Revolution. The colour palette is sunny and primary-leaning, with brisk, energetic cutting, zippy camera moves and a lot of visual gags packed into every frame. The score is buoyant orchestral pop with bursts of playful percussion, and the time-travel sequences arrive with whooshing, fizzing sound design that keeps the energy high. Vibe: bouncy, witty, affectionate and upbeat, the kind of film that suits a family afternoon, a sleepover, or a lighthearted watch on a weekday evening. Pacing is fast and sometimes frantic, but the emotional core is gentle: a quick-witted boy and his devoted dog, and a loving father learning to trust his son's growing independence. Intensity is mild, with some slapstick peril and brief tension, no gore, and no sexual content. It is made for kids and the grown-ups beside them who want clever jokes, history played for fun, and a warm, uncomplicated story about family.
