The story
A girl falls for the "perfect" guy, who happens to have a very fatal flaw: he's a hitman on the run from the crime cartels who employ him.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated daylight and wide, sun-washed California streets give this one a glossy, slightly overheated look, with bursts of colour in sunny apartments and sudden stylised violence cut in with a snappy, playful rhythm. Camera work is brisk and kinetic, with quick cuts and handheld energy during the set pieces, while the quieter scenes lean on easy close-ups and warm, flattering light. The score pulses with upbeat electronic beats that tip into tension when things turn darker. Its vibe is zany, offbeat and cheeky, a romcom with a sharp, bruised edge, best for a lively weekend night or a fun, unserious watch with friends. Violence is frequent and bloody, with shootouts, stabbings and gore, and some strong language and sexual content; it lands as darkly comic rather than harrowing. Not one for anyone wanting something gentle. It suits viewers who enjoy genre mash-ups and off-kilter romance with a wicked sense of humour.
