The story

I felt like I was trapped in one of those terrifying nightmares. For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning. Legions of readers entranced by the New York Times bestseller Twilight are hungry for the continuing story of star-crossed lovers Bella and Edward. In New Moon, Stephenie Meyer delivers another irresistible combination of romance and suspense with a supernatural spin. Passionate, riveting, and full of surprising twists and turns, this vampire love saga is well on its way to literary immortality. -- Container. Love stories. Horror fiction. Now in a Special Trade Demy Paperback Edition. The dramatic sequel to TWILIGHT, following the tale of Bella, a teenage girl whose love for a vampire gets her into trouble. I stuck my finger under the edge of the paper and jerked it under the tape. 'Shoot, ' I muttered when the paper sliced my finger. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut. It all happened very quickly then. 'No!' Edward roared ... Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm - and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires. What it’s like

Cool, pale early-autumn light and a gray, rain-soaked small town set the tone for this sequel, with the prose staying close and breathless to a teenage narrator who notices every flush, glance, and shift in temperature. The voice is first-person and chatty, full of wordy internal tension and small domestic details: a gym class, a school cafeteria, a cold house with a stiff sofa, sunlight that never quite warms anything. Its vibe is moody and obsessive, a yearning ache with a current of dread running underneath, the kind of book that suits a late-night read under a lamp, a long rainy afternoon, or a stretch of travel when you want to sink into a feeling more than a plot. Pacing is fast and emotionally repetitive, cycling through longing, reassurance, and rising alarm, with the central pair's bond growing more intense and fraught as outside threats gather. The intensity is moderate: a few frightening sequences with violence and peril, some blood and a menacing attack, but the horror stays mostly psychological and the romance is chaste and tender rather than explicit. It suits readers who love brooding romance, teen-drama heat, and a melodramatic supernatural edge, and it is less suited to anyone wanting something gentle, bright, or purely comforting.
