Nutty Professor II: The Klumps

Directed by Peter Segal

  • comedy
  • science fiction

The story

The hilarity begins when professor Sherman Klump finds romance with fellow DNA specialist, Denise Gaines, and discovers a brilliant formula that reverses aging. But Sherman's thin and obnoxious alter ego, Buddy Love, wants out...and a big piece of the action. And when Buddy gets loose, things get seriously nutty.

What it’s like

Bright, flat studio lighting and broad, eye-level comedy framing, with the bulk of the action staged in university labs of glossy white and primary-colored sets, and family dinners in warm, cluttered suburban kitchens. The look is glossy and sitcom-adjacent, with bold costume color and big physical gags captured in medium and wide shots so the performers' full bodies stay in frame. Sound is busy and cheerful: a pop-and-R&B soundtrack, bouncy incidental score, and the slapstick sound effects of pratfalls and transformations. The vibe is loud, warm, and goofy, a comfort-food comedy best suited to a lazy weekend afternoon, a family movie night, or a light watch while doing something else. Pacing is brisk and gag-driven, with scenes built for quick laughs rather than slow build. Emotionally it stays affectionate and upbeat, following a gentle, good-natured man learning to trust his own family and romance while his more abrasive alter ego causes chaos. Intensity is very low: crude jokes and some sexual innuendo, cartoonish mishaps, a few tense moments, no real violence or gore and no frightening content. It suits viewers who want big, friendly, family-safe laughs and a sweet story about love and self-acceptance.
