The story

Danny Ocean's team of criminals are back and composing a plan more personal than ever. When ruthless casino owner Willy Bank doublecrosses Reuben Tishkoff, causing a heart attack, Danny Ocean vows that he and his team will do anything to bring down Willy Bank along with everything he's got. Even if it means asking for help from an enemy.

What it’s like

Bright, glossy casino light and warm, saturated Las Vegas nights, all gold, chrome and polished marble, shot with the slick, mobile polish that Steven Soderbergh brings to heist films: restless tracking shots, split-screen flourishes, quick zooms and crisp cuts that make a room full of wealthy people feel like a playground. The score is breezy and jazzy, a light rhythmic bounce under the banter, with the cool, sly tone of a card game played for fun. Its vibe is glamorous, witty and buoyant, a heist film that wears its cleverness lightly. The pacing is brisk and playful, built around ensemble banter and the pleasure of watching a precise plan click into place, while the emotional core is simple loyalty between old friends and a grudge that gives the scheme some heart. Violence is almost absent: there is a heart attack and some tense confrontations, but nothing graphic, and the menace stays comic and cool. Sexual content is light and playful. It suits a lazy weekend, a comfort rewatch, or a night in with friends, and it's for people who enjoy stylish caper fun, sharp ensemble chemistry and a crowd-pleasing, low-stress thrill.
