The story
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES is an add-on disc for Persona 3 containing updates to the original game (referred in the game as "The Journey"), as well as a new epilogue story, The Answer, in which the player controls Aigis. The subtitle "Fes" is derived from the word "festival".
What it’s like
Cool blue-black night and moonlit school corridors set the look: a quiet city where the Dark Hour freezes everything into a hush of empty streets, and the tower dungeon Tartarus unfolds in ash-grey stone, lit by the glow of summoned spirits. Characters appear as crisp anime portraits over 3D rooms, and the soundtrack swings between jazzy electronic pulse, sparse piano and wistful vocal tracks that linger after the battles end. Pacing is patient and cyclical: days of classes, part-time work and dialogue choices, punctuated by tense, turn-based fights against shadows. Vibe is bittersweet, nocturnal melancholy with a coming-of-age heart. Intensity is moderate: monster combat and bloodless wounds, with some frank talk of death, grief and suicide, and a sacrifice-heavy ending that lands hard. The Answer epilogue, centred on the android Aigis, is more austere and mournful. It suits late-night sessions alone, slow autumn evenings, and players who want a long, emotionally weighty journey and don't mind sad themes.
