The story
A struggling street photographer, pressured to marry by his grandmother, convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancée. The pair develops a connection that transforms them in ways that they could not expect.
What it’s like
Warm, unhurried Mumbai light: late-afternoon sun on crowded sea-front streets, sepia-toned old prints, and a camera that lingers in quiet rooms and on faces that are slow to give anything away. Scenes breathe, with long pauses where the characters look at each other and say nothing, and the score stays sparse and unobtrusive, leaving room for street noise, traffic and ambient chatter. The mood is gentle and wry, with a soft comic undertone that keeps the awkwardness of two strangers pretending to be a couple from turning painful. The tone is tender, observant and patient, and its emotional arc follows two lonely people who slowly loosen up around each other. There is no violence and no sexual content; any physical intimacy is minimal and tactful. It suits a slow weekday evening, a quiet rewatch, or anyone who wants a low-stakes film about connection, loneliness and small everyday kindnesses. It is for viewers who enjoy restrained, character-led romance and a city that feels lived in.
