The story
Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll: He has burned through eight of his nine lives, leaving him with only one life left. Puss sets out on an epic journey to find the mythical Last Wish and restore his nine lives.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated 3D animation with painterly textures: sun-warmed village squares, moonlit forests in deep blue, and a sweeping, stylized look that shifts into hand-drawn sketch overlays and storybook framing during action beats. The palette runs from honey-gold and terracotta to lush greens, with dramatic nighttime sequences built on cool silver light. Camera moves are fast and kinetic in the chases, then settle into warm, close two-shot compositions for the quieter scenes. The score is orchestral and bouncy, dotted with flamenco guitar and playful percussion, and the sound design is crisp and comic, with wind, hooves and sword-clangs all given exaggerated punch. Vibe: whimsical, bighearted, and buoyant, with a touch of wistful fear around mortality. It suits a Saturday afternoon with kids, a cheerful rewatch, or a lighthearted evening in. The pace is brisk and the tone is mostly comedic, with the central character's bravado giving way to a gentle reckoning about what he values. Violence is cartoonish swordplay and slapstick peril, with some tense moments of threat and a few mild scares; no gore, nothing sexual. It is aimed at families and anyone who wants a lively, funny fairy tale with heart.
