The story
Lu, a conformist woman in her forties, learns that her 15-year partner has been having extramarital affairs. Starting from scratch, she gets involved in an unexpected relationship with a young womanizer.
What it’s like
Light, talky comedy with a warm romantic heartbeat, the kind of film that suits an easy weekend afternoon or a relaxed evening on the sofa. Its premise is domestic and grounded: a woman in her forties, settled into a long relationship, is jolted into starting over, and the humour comes from awkward reversals and the gap between her careful, orderly life and the impulsive young man who pulls her out of it. Expect a breezy pace, bright everyday settings, and a tone that leans on conversation, glances and small social embarrassments rather than spectacle. Romance and infidelity are present, handled with a playful rather than cutting touch, with the sexual content implied more than explicit and no violence suggested by the premise. The emotional arc follows a middle-aged woman gaining confidence, self-respect and a bit of nerve, with a lighter, teasing shape overall. It is for viewers who want a laugh-and-sigh romance with a mature heroine, easy to dip in and out of, and gentle enough for a relaxed night in.
