The story

James "Jimmy" Chance is a clueless 24-year-old who impregnates a serial killer during a one-night-stand. Earning custody of his daughter after the mother is sentenced to death, Jimmy relies on his oddball but well-intentioned family for support in raising the child.

What it’s like

Bright, even multi-camera lighting over a cluttered kitchen and a crowded living room, with warm yellows and faded wallpaper, and a studio laugh track that rolls in after nearly every punchline. The rhythm is quick and overlapping, with broad physical comedy and three-generation banter that gets louder as the household fills up. Underneath the cheerful clatter is a dry, slightly sour humor about a young man in over his head, and a few jokes about the baby's mother land darker than the rest. Violence is only ever in the backstory and punchlines, never shown, with no gore and little real menace. The arc is simple and warm: a clueless, good-natured young father slowly growing into the job with a family that is odd but loyal. It suits a Tuesday-night comfort rewatch, background while folding laundry, or anyone who wants a home-and-hearth sitcom with mild crude humor and a generous heart. Best for viewers who like loud, affectionate family chaos more than sharp satire.
