The story

A rag-tag team of Reno cops are called in to save the day after a terrorist attack disrupts a national police convention in Miami Beach during spring break. Based on the Comedy Central series.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-bleached Florida daylight over beaches, hotel lobbies and convention halls, shot in the loose handheld style of a mockumentary: talking-head interview cuts, zooms onto faces mid-blunder, and cameras that wobble to catch the chaos. The palette is saturated and glossy, pastel resort colours and neon spring-break signage, with the sharp fluorescent glare of police stations and the grimy haze of cheap motels. The sound is pure comic-action texture: squealing tyres, sudden gunfire and explosions, a bouncy library of cop-show music and beach-pop cues that undercut every tense moment. The vibe is goofy, brash and sun-drenched, the kind of thing to put on for a lazy weekend night with friends or a loud, silly rewatch. Pacing is quick and scattershot, with running gags and deadpan awkwardness giving way to bursts of action. The emotional register stays light; the lead ensemble of incompetent deputies stays loyal and oblivious, and their small victories feel earned in a sheepish way. Intensity is moderate: frequent slapstick violence, shootouts and explosions played for laughs, some crude sexual humour and drug jokes, and no real gore or lingering cruelty. It suits viewers who want broad, irreverent action-comedy that doesn't take itself seriously.
