The story
Tough ex-convict Inder and traditional mousy Saraswati fall in love and get married, but a tragedy changes their lives forever. The film is a modern rendition of the legends of Shiva-Sati and the novel "Love Story" by Eric Segal.
What it’s like
Glossy, saturated digital colour with soft-focus close-ups and lush, sweeping camera moves, the look of a big Bollywood romance, with warm interiors and bright wedding-season palettes giving way to muted, grey-blue sorrow. Frequent musical numbers, with the songs carrying much of the emotion, and a sentimental orchestral score that swells at every turn. Its vibe is melodramatic and tender, a tear-jerking romance where devotion is tested by grief. It suits a comfort cry on a quiet evening or a weekend with a box of tissues. Pacing is brisk in the early courtship and then lingers heavily on loss, with the central couple's arc moving from a guarded, volatile man and a shy, dutiful woman toward a love that becomes its own kind of endurance. Intensity is moderate: some brawling and a violent past, a serious accident and its aftermath, and sustained sadness, but no gore and little explicit cruelty. It is for viewers who want big emotions, romance and musical sweep, and don't mind being moved to tears.
