The story

Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda are all married now, but they're still up for a little fun in the sun. When Samantha gets the chance to visit one of the most extravagant vacation destinations on the planet and offers to bring them all along, they surmise that a women-only retreat may be the perfect excuse to eschew their responsibilities and remember what life was like before they decided to settle down.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated daylight and glossy digital sheen give this one the look of a expensive travel brochure, with Manhattan apartments in warm amber lamplight and then Abu Dhabi rendered in dazzling desert sun, hotel suites of cream and gold, and wide establishing shots of the skyline. Camera work stays polished and fashion-forward, with cheerful cuts between the four women in tight two-shots and group frames built around wardrobe and bright costume colour. The score leans on upbeat pop and brassy disco-tinged tracks, so the soundtrack keeps lifting the mood. Its vibe is glamorous, breezy and self-indulgent, a light escape best suited to a lazy weekend, a girls'-night rewatch, or a holiday-season comfort watch with a glass of something bubbly. Pacing is brisk and episodic, moving through set pieces of shopping, cocktails, pool days and cultural mishaps, while the emotional arcs centre on long friendships testing their loyalty and women reconsidering marriage, rekindled romance and the pull of old freedoms. Intensity is low: some sexual innuendo and frank adult talk, mild crude humour, brief tension, and no real violence or gore. It is for viewers who want warm, witty, fizzy company and a glossy trip away from everyday worries.
