The story

When David, Juliet, and Alex find their new roommate dead with a large sum of money, they agree to hide the body and keep the cash. However, this newfound fortune gradually corrodes their friendship.

What it’s like

Cramped Edinburgh flat interiors shot in tight, restless frames, with the camera pressing close to faces and the flat's clutter of boxes and bare walls giving the space a claustrophobic squeeze. The palette is cold and damp: grey Scottish daylight through rain-streaked windows, sickly fluorescent hospital-green light, and dark, shadowed rooms lit mostly by lamps. Danny Boyle's handheld energy and jittery editing keep things jumpy, while the score leans on pulsing, electronic rhythms and Scottish pop tracks that make the flat feel alive with nervous momentum. Its vibe is sardonic and paranoid, a black comedy with a neo-noir chill that tightens as the characters turn on each other. Watch it late at night or on a grey afternoon when you want something sharp and wry rather than soothing. The pacing is brisk and escalates steadily, and the emotional arc follows three friends whose bond slowly curdles into suspicion and greed. Violence is brief but grim: a few sudden, bloody moments, including a graphic death and a drug overdose, with some crude sexual talk and strong language throughout. It suits viewers who enjoy dark humour, tense character dynamics and cynical crime stories.
