The story

When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it's up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

What it’s like

Clay-textured stop motion with the chunky, handmade warmth of a children's picture book: sheep and dogs built from plasticine-like figures, bold primary colours against soft pastoral greens, and a farm that feels lovingly lived-in. The camera is mostly steady and unfussy, and the action is staged with clear, playful geometry, so the big-city sequences turn into a bright, busy maze of neon signs and crowded streets rather than anything harsh. The score is light and bouncy, leaning on pizzicato strings and tiny comic sound effects, with long stretches of wordless physical gag. Vibe: cosy, cheerful, gently absurd, the kind of watch that suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a family movie night, or a comfort rewatch with a blanket. Pacing is brisk but relaxed, with plenty of silent slapstick that lets small-scale moments breathe. Emotionally it stays warm and low-stakes: a bumbling hero, a tight-knit flock, and a friendship that gets tested and then mended. Intensity is very mild: some peril, a chase through the city, a brief hospital scene and a sinister animal-control villain, but no real violence, gore or fear that lingers. Made for families with young children and for adults who enjoy witty, dialogue-light animation.
