The story
Bionic policemen fight an escaped alien mob boss and his gang in space.
What it’s like
Bold primary colours and chunky 1980s cel animation, with hard-edged metallic surfaces, glowing ray-gun flashes, and starfields rendered as flat, saturated backdrops. The look is bright and boxy rather than moody: spaceships, cyborg bodies and alien bases are drawn with heavy outlines and bold shading, and the camera stays in busy, dynamic action shots that cut quickly between combat and flight. The soundtrack leans on synth-driven fanfares and punchy percussion, with theatrical voice acting that keeps the energy high. Pacing is brisk and episodic, with a clear good-versus-bad structure and a tone that stays earnest and upbeat, the sort of nostalgic space romp where heroes are steadfast and villains are cartoonishly menacing. Violence is stylised laser-blasting and explosions, with no gore and little real threat, so it sits comfortably in kids' territory. Best suited to a weekend morning rewatch, a nostalgic afternoon, or viewers who want retro sci-fi energy without anything dark or grim. Made for children and adults who grew up on 1980s space cartoons and want bright, uncomplicated action.
