The story
After four college girls rob a restaurant to fund their spring break in Florida, they get entangled with a weird dude with his own criminal agenda.
What it’s like
Saturated pink, purple and electric blue wash every frame, with neon signage, pool water and sun-blasted beaches turning the Florida setting into a hallucinatory candy-coated dream. Korine's camera drifts and jump-cuts in a loose, almost trance-like rhythm, lingering on slow-motion bodies, glittering pastel details and hazy night-time haze, while a pulsing, bass-heavy score of trap and electronic beats keeps the mood feverish. The vibe is hypnotic and seductive, with a dreamlike unease that curdles into something hard-edged. Intensity is high: drug use, heavy drinking, sexual content and nudity, and sudden, brutal gun violence arrive in sharp bursts, often played with stylised detachment. The pacing is languid then abrupt, and the emotional register swings between giddy, numb and menacing as its four young women drift deeper into a world they barely understand. This suits viewers who want a provocative, visually intoxicating film for late-night watching, and it is not for anyone seeking something gentle or easy to sit with.
