The story
The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once again as the journey of Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle begins.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated space-opera spectacle: starfields and planetary sunsets rendered in glossy digital polish, sweeping crane shots over desert dunes and gutted star destroyers, and lightsaber duels lit by lurid red and electric blue. Lens flares and a constant haze of CGI sheen give the images a busy, high-gloss finish, while John Williams-style orchestral swells and bombastic percussion fill nearly every scene, with quieter moments of wistful strings. The pacing is relentless, cutting rapidly between dogfights, chases and emotional reunions, so the mood is urgent and nostalgic rather than contemplative. Its register is earnest, sentimental and rousing, with a warm sense of family and legacy running under the noise. Action is frequent and bloodless in tone: lots of blaster fire and saber combat, some peril and a few sudden deaths, but no gore and little real cruelty. Best suited to a fan-service movie night or a rousing escape, for people who want big-screen spectacle, familiar faces and a hopeful, heartfelt finale.
