The story

Armed with only one word - Tenet - and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.

What it’s like

Cold, polished digital imagery with a restless, high-contrast palette: steel-blue and gunmetal interiors, stark white airports, deep saturated reds and oranges in fire and sunlight, and hard glassy reflections on hotel towers and harbours. Wide Imax frames favour symmetrical architecture and sweeping vistas, then cut to tight handheld chaos in car chases and crowded corridors. The score is a pulsing, percussive synth-and-strings drone that rarely lets up, with sudden swells and a low, rumbling bass that makes the sound design feel physical. Its vibe is tense, cerebral and relentlessly kinetic, closer to a puzzle box than a comfort watch. The pacing is brisk and dense, and the emotional register stays cool and guarded, with its central figures more defined by duty and loyalty than by intimacy. Intensity is high: frequent gunfights, explosions, car crashes and brief bloody injuries, with a terrorist-attack sequence and nuclear threat hanging over the story. Not gentle. For viewers who enjoy sleek, intricate spy thrillers, large-format spectacle and a mind-bending premise, and who can handle a loud, unrelenting runtime.
