The story

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.

What it’s like

Dim, amber-lit rooms with deep shadow pooling in the corners, and long, slow dolly moves down creaking hallways that hold on an empty doorway until something moves in it. The palette leans on warm wood tones, sickly yellow lamplight and cold blue night outside the windows, with the wedding-season glow of candles and the wet gleam of rain on glass. The score is built from low strings, church-like choral swells and sudden silences that make the next sound land harder. Pacing is patient for long stretches, with domestic scenes of family warmth and grief before the house turns, then escalates into frantic set pieces of exorcism and possession. Horror is the dominant register: jump scares, unsettling physical contortions, and some bloody, brief but sharp violence, with dread carried more by sound and staging than by gore. The emotional core is a long-married couple's devotion and fear, expressed through faith and sacrifice. It suits a late-night watch with the lights off, a Halloween double feature, or a fan of classic haunted-house chillers who want atmosphere, religious unease and a steady build to a loud finish.
