The story
Searching for a safer habitat, the prehistoric Crood family discovers an idyllic, walled-in paradise that meets all of its needs. Unfortunately, they must also learn to live with the Bettermans -- a family that's a couple of steps above the Croods on the evolutionary ladder. As tensions between the new neighbors start to rise, a new threat soon propels both clans on an epic adventure that forces them to embrace their differences, draw strength from one another, and survive together.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated 3D animation with a sun-washed, candy-coloured palette: lush jungle greens, bubblegum pinks and tangerine skies that feel warm rather than harsh. The camera moves with bouncy, kinetic energy, swooping through canopies and tumbling over cliffs, while quieter domestic scenes sit in soft, even daylight. The soundscape is busy and playful, with a jaunty orchestral score, slapstick sound effects and a lot of chatter. The vibe is joyous and goofy, with a gentle heart underneath. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon with kids, a comfort rewatch, or background viewing while tidying up. The pacing is brisk and cheerful, with frequent gags and set-piece chases, and the emotional register is affectionate and sincere. Its arc follows a stubborn, overprotective family learning to trust outsiders and accept difference. Violence is cartoonish and bloodless: slapstick peril, dinosaur-style scuffles and mild scares, with nothing graphic. It is aimed at families and anyone who wants something lighthearted, warm and easy to enjoy.
