The story
When his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry Allen becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. In order to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
What it’s like
Bright, hyper-saturated superhero spectacle with glossy digital cinematography, sweeping aerial city shots, and rapid-fire speed sequences where the camera whips through streets and blurs into streaks of light. The palette swings between warm, sunlit suburban interiors and cold, grey-blue Gotham-like skies, and a bombastic orchestral score pushes every set piece forward with brass and percussion. Pacing is relentless and busy, with frequent jokes, cross-dimensional cameo spectacle, and a constant sense that something is about to explode. Tone mixes earnest family grief with goofy, self-aware comedy, and the emotional core is a grieving young man learning to forgive his past and accept responsibility for the people he loves. Intensity is moderate: there is steady action violence with city destruction, crowds in peril, and some peril for a child, but no gore and little sustained cruelty. It suits a loud, fun Friday night or a comfort-viewing mood, and fans of big-screen comic-book adventure and time-travel twists will find it most rewarding.
