The story

Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.

What it’s like

Long, drifting camera moves through dim, wood-panelled rooms, with warm lamplight pooling against deep shadow and the cooler blue of present-day exteriors and hospital corridors cutting in between. The palette leans on amber, mahogany and dusty gold, and the house itself feels like a character: staircases that stretch too far, doorways that frame something just out of focus, hallways that hold their darkness a beat too long. Sound design does much of the unnerving work, with creaks, distant knocking and whispered voices sitting low in the mix, while the score is a sparse, melancholy piano that swells only when grief tips into dread. Pacing is deliberate and layered, moving back and forth in time so that each reveal reframes an earlier scene. Intensity is moderate: frightening moments and eerie imagery, some bloody and graphic images, one harrowing suicide-related storyline, and no gratuitous gore for its own sake. Vibe is slow-burn, melancholic and atmospheric, best suited to a dark autumn evening or a late-night binge with the lights low. It's for viewers who like ghost stories where the scares serve a story about siblings, guilt and unresolved family pain.
