The story
Ry, a college student with a chronic illness, escapes to Mallorca for the summer with her mother, where she unexpectedly falls for a local and begins to embrace living in the moment. But as her condition worsens and long-hidden family secrets come to light, everything she has found before summer's end is threatened.
What it’s like
Warm Mallorcan summer light, sea and sun-bleached streets, with the romance and family tension carried mostly through faces and quiet rooms. The mood is bittersweet and tender, with a tug of tension running under the holiday glow as a young woman's health worsens and old family secrets surface. The pacing is gentle at first, opening into a more anxious, emotional middle and an ending that leans on the bond between a daughter and her mother. The arc follows a young woman learning to live fully in the present while the future grows uncertain, and a romance that feels fragile against that uncertainty. Intensity is emotional rather than physical: there is no violence or gore to speak of, only the strain of illness and secrets and the ache of loss. It suits a slow summer afternoon, a comfort watch with a box of tissues nearby, or a quiet evening when you want to feel something without being shaken. It is for viewers who enjoy romantic dramas, Spanish settings, and stories about hope, family, and the courage to love despite fear.
