The story
When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, Carol's powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol's estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated space-opera colour does most of the work here: teal and magenta alien vistas, glossy CGI skies, and the kinetic, cartoonish energy of a superhero blockbuster that cuts quickly between set pieces and a few quieter interior spaces, like a lived-in apartment and a cramped spaceship cabin. The camera moves often, with busy, rapid action and playful, zippy editing that sometimes gets chaotic, and the score is bouncy orchestral pop with synth swells. Its vibe is breezy, goofy and upbeat, a bright sugar-rush of a film built for a light weekend afternoon or a casual group watch. The pacing is brisk and the tone warm and self-aware, with plenty of banter between three women who clash, bicker and slowly learn to sync their powers, so the emotional arc is about estranged family and young fandom finding common ground. Action is frequent but bloodless and comic, with explosions and energy blasts, no gore, and only mild peril that lands more as spectacle than dread. It suits fans of the MCU, teen-leaning audiences, and anyone wanting an easygoing, colourful adventure.
