The story
Seven years after vanishing from her home, a young woman returns with mysterious new abilities and recruits five strangers for a secret mission.
What it’s like
Cool blues and washed-out greys dominate, with long static shots of suburban interiors, snowy streets and dim basements framed with an almost clinical stillness, then sudden flashes of bright, dreamlike white. Light often arrives through windows in flat, overcast daylight, while the underground scenes lean on sickly fluorescents and candle-dark rooms. The score is sparse and eerie, built from low synth drones and pulsing piano that drop out into near silence at the moments that matter most. Pacing is slow and deliberate, with long dialogue scenes that hold their breath before the mystery tightens, and the tone is unsettled and intimate, closer to quiet grief than to pulse-pounding thriller. Violence is occasional and sudden, some of it brutal, and there is peril and a few disturbing moments, but no gore for its own sake. This suits a late-night, lights-low sitting for viewers who like slow-burn, uncanny mysteries about loss, faith and being believed, and who don't mind leaving some questions open.
