The story
A couple of thirtysomething best friends unwittingly become entangled in an international conspiracy when one’s ex-boyfriend shows up at their apartment with a team of deadly assassins on his trail.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated studio comedy with a restless travelogue energy: sunny Los Angeles apartments in warm daylight give way to rain-slick European streets, sleek hotel corridors, and crisp Prague and Paris exteriors, all lit cleanly and framed for fast, readable gags. The camera stays busy with quick cuts, whip pans and punchy action staging, and the score bounces along with upbeat pop and spy-thriller pulse, so the whole thing sounds like a breezy road trip. The vibe is cheeky, brisk and buoyant, the kind of movie that suits a lazy Friday night, a comfort watch with friends, or something easy to half-watch on a long-haul flight. Pacing is quick and rhythmic, with the comedy leaning on loud, physical bits and sharp banter rather than slow emotional beats. Its heart is a friendship between two thirtysomethings who fumble their way through danger while they figure out their own loyalty and nerve. Violence is present throughout, with frequent shootouts, chases and fight scenes, but it stays cartoonish and bloodless; there is some coarse language and crude humour, and no real gore. It is for people who want laughter, friendship and a bit of exuberant action without anything bleak.
