The story
Young married couple Zach and Emmy decide to take a hot air balloon trip across the Italian Dolomites to rekindle their relationship. When they and pilot Harry are joined by a third passenger, Julia, events unfold in ways they could never imagine five thousand meters in the air.
What it’s like
Wide, open skies over jagged pale limestone peaks, with the quiet hiss of a burner and the slow drift of a basket far above the valleys, set the scene for this one. The mood is tense and elevated: a hot-air-balloon trip that turns into a confined, high-altitude survival situation, with suspense building in a small space above very large, unforgiving terrain. Expect the dread of being stranded with nowhere to go, a sense of vertigo and exposure, and a relationship under strain. The pace suits a tight, focused watch rather than a lazy one, and the emotional register runs from strained intimacy to alarm. Peril is the main intensity, and its exact level of violence isn't established here, so it's better suited to viewers who are comfortable with thriller tension than to anyone looking for something gentle. It fits a late-evening thriller, a weekend with the lights low, or anyone drawn to isolated, high-stakes settings and the claustrophobia of a small, fragile vessel in open air.
