The story
An evil force is looming across the dark, thick-aired streets of industrial revolution London when a group of heroes dubbed Unicorn are accidentally reawakened in the bodies of teenagers instead of adult hosts they’ve embodied in the past.
What it’s like
Smoky, steam-choked London rendered in 3D animation, with sooty brick, gaslit alleyways and glowing brass machinery that gives the city a dense, overcast feel. The palette leans on ash greys and coal browns, broken up by bursts of saturated magical light when the warriors transform, so the screen often feels murky and then suddenly bright. Camera work is kinetic and action-forward, with fast cuts and sweeping chase framing, and the score pushes steady orchestral-electronic pulses that rise into percussive fight beats. The mood is moody and adventurous, a sooty steampunk fantasy with flashes of wonder, best for an evening with the lights low or a weekend binge when you want energy over calm. Pacing is brisk, with each episode built around set-piece fights and bursts of banter. The emotional core is a group of old warriors grappling with bodies that don't match their experience, which brings in some humour, some grief and a slow build of trust between the teenagers and their former selves. Violence is regular and stylised: sword and magic combat with blood-free impacts and some peril, but no sexual content and no gore beyond what action animation usually allows. Best for viewers who like animated action with a dark, atmospheric setting and a teen-focused emotional angle.
