The story

A fantasy movie about an arrogant, lazy prince and his more heroic brother who must complete a quest in order to save their father's kingdom.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated medieval-fantasy colour: sunlit castle courtyards, lush green forests, and bloodless-looking gold-and-velvet interiors, all shot in a clean, competent digital style with wide, straightforward framing and plenty of mid-shot two-handers. The score leans on jaunty orchestral fanfare that deliberately mocks its own epic seriousness, and the sound design is cheerfully broad, with clanking armour, creature roars and sword-on-shield clatter. The vibe is goofy, irreverent and warm, a parody of sword-and-sorcery that plays its swagger for laughs. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a group watch with friends, or easy background viewing when you want something silly without much thinking. Pacing is brisk and jokey, built around crude, sometimes outrageous gags and banter between two mismatched brothers, one lazy and self-indulgent, the other earnest, who slowly learn to respect each other. Intensity is moderate: some swordplay and monster fights with mild bloodiness, plenty of sexual innuendo and crude humour, and nothing truly frightening. It is for people who want a raunchy, good-natured spoof of fantasy adventure and don't mind bawdy jokes.
