The story
The high commander of an alien expedition lands on Earth -- what he considers to be the least-important planet -- in human form as Dick Solomon. Along for the ride are his alien compatriots Harry, Sally and Tommy -- who is the eldest of the group but is now angrily trapped in a teen's body.
What it’s like
Bright, flat multi-camera sitcom lighting: warm studio light on bland suburban kitchens, a living room in cheerful beige, and the bounce of a live audience's laughter filling every pause. The palette is practical and unfussy, with the ordinary Ohio American home rendered in primary colors and overstuffed furniture, while the alien characters are played for broad physical comedy, with hand-gestured dialogue, exaggerated double-takes and the occasional big, glowing, cartoonish head reveal. Shots are mostly medium two-shots and reaction close-ups, cut quickly to the next punchline, so the rhythm is brisk and reliably jokey, with episodes that rarely let a moment sit. Vibe: cheerful, goofy, warm-hearted. It suits a lazy evening, a comfort rewatch, or background while folding laundry. Emotional register is light and affectionate: a stranded, bossy alien learning to care about his odd human-and-alien family, and a teenage-bodied elder growing exasperated and tender by turns. Intensity is very low: mild crude humor and bickering, no violence, no gore, no sexual content, nothing frightening. It is for people who want witty, gentle sci-fi comedy with a found-family heart and no real stakes.
