The story

A furry alien wiseguy comes to live with a terran family after crashing into their garage.

What it’s like

Bright, flat multi-camera sitcom lighting: a suburban California house set in warm, even tones, with the kitchen and living room lit like a stage and laugh-track pacing that snaps from one-liner to reaction shot. The look is 1980s network TV, saturated but unshowy, with the garage, the dining table and the family den doing most of the work. Sound is dominated by canned laughter, a bouncy synth-and-keyboard theme, and the rapid overlap of dialogue, so it plays as sustained, lively background noise rather than anything hushed. Emotionally it is light and warm, a cozy, slightly goofy comfort vibe, with the family dynamics (a sarcastic teenager, exasperated parents, a puppet-like alien who is always scheming and snacking) carrying the episodes. Violence is absent, and the tone stays cheerful with only mild cheek and innuendo for adults. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, background viewing while folding laundry, or a nostalgic rewatch with someone who grew up with it. Good for people who want gentle, low-stakes family comedy with a sci-fi wink and no real danger.
