The story

A group of 30-year-olds who have been friends since high school attempt to throw an end-of-summer orgy.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-saturated summer daylight over suburban backyards and a glittering swimming pool, with the warm, slightly hazy look of a mid-2010s studio comedy: clean digital images, saturated blues and sunburn pinks, and wide, easygoing framing that lets the group sprawl across lawns and lounge chairs. The score leans on bouncy pop and tipsy upbeat cues, and the soundtrack is full of splashing, laughter and clinking glasses. The vibe is breezy, goofy and warm, a lazy late-August afternoon that tips into mild chaos. Pacing is loose and talky, with comic set-ups that wander through awkward party scenes before settling on sweeter moments. Its people are old friends who have drifted into grown-up anxieties, and the arc follows a group of thirtysomethings reconnecting and reckoning with what they want from one another. Sexual content is present and frank in its premise but played for laughs rather than explicit; violence is absent, and the mood stays light and mostly gentle, with some crude humor and bawdy jokes. It suits a relaxed Saturday, a lighthearted watch with friends, or easy background viewing for people who want summer-party comedy with a warm, uncomplicated heart.
