The story
Born and raised in the slums, 29-year-old adventurer Hajime Shinonome now lives a quiet life in Komai Village. But his peaceful days take a turn when he discovers Lirui, an abandoned young girl, being attacked by a slime. Moved by her desperation and reminded of his own past, he takes her back to the village. Hajime and Lirui begin a new chapter filled with unexpected challenges and gentle days!
What it’s like
Soft, unhurried village-life warmth, the kind of daylight and rural calm that makes a fantasy world feel lived-in rather than epic. Gentle, melodic background music sits under everyday routines, and the rare dungeon and monster scenes stay brief and light against long stretches of cooking, chores and quiet conversation. The vibe is tender, low-key and quietly hopeful, with an undercurrent of old hurt. The pacing is easy and episodic, lingering on small domestic moments as a grown man shaped by a rough childhood learns to care for a frightened child he has taken in. Violence is mild and cartoonish, with slime fights and creature encounters that carry little threat, and the emotional weight comes from memories of abandonment rather than on-screen cruelty. There is no gore or sexual content. It suits a cozy evening, a comfort watch or a relaxed weekend, and it is for viewers who want a fantasy story about found family, patience and everyday kindness.
